Review: Jorja Smith "GO GO GO"

Jorja Smith is an artist based out of the West Midlands and has been writing songs since the age of 12. Her genre of music is R&B and Soul, with a sound often compared to artists such as AlunaGeorge, Rihanna, and Amy Winehouse.

In her new single titled "GO GO GO", it seems as if Jorja does not want to be in a relationship anymore. The very first lyric, "you like to feel a way about it, I don't feel like I care anymore", reveals that she doesn't return her lover's feelings. Smith exudes confidence and freedom in this single, bringing women's worth and independence into the spotlight. I like the blend of different sounds in this song; it gets you in the mood to dance. "GO GO GO" has a reggae vibe to it, which makes the listener want to recite the lyrics and sing along as if he or she is in the music video with Smith.

In self-love anthem "GO GO GO", the artist reclaims her feminine power and reminds her audience that they do not need to be in a relationship in order to be fulfilled. All in all, the single empowers women everywhere to make decisions according to what is in their best interest, regardless of whether or not they have a partner. We create our own happiness, not by being with someone, but by listening to our personal needs.
